I have walked with a Meetup walking group called Walking Wellington since 2016 and when I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in September last year, my walking friends wanted to show their support by doing the Pink Ribbon/Star walk with me so I put it up as a Meetup walk. I had about 30 wonderful walking friends join me on the day. I had just had a mastectomy and was waiting for my chemo to start, so I did the 5k walk. This year 20 people so far have signed up on the Meetup walk intending to register with the Pink Ribbon Walk in Wellington and walk the 10ks.

Personally, I want to do the walk again this year as I have had such wonderful support from the Breast Cancer Foundation over the past 12 months. And of course on the day, the whole event is such fun, provides us with plenty of laughs, and we get our needed exercise. A win-win for everyone.
